A few design explorations of app projects and concepts

Case studies

Task management app

What is it about?

An entrepreneur reached to me to help him create a design concept for an app he was building. The ask was to create a task management app that is very automated and has a clean UI. He wanted this app to work on desktop as well, and possibly have AI features

The solution

Mobile app

The app feature a clean landing page that displays the tasks of the day, with highlighted labels to help the user prioritize their tasks. Other pages of the app include an interactive calendar, an all-tasks page and a settings page. To add a task, the user simply clicks the centre add button.

The add task page has a simplified clean UI, allowing the user to choose how they want to add a task, they can just type a name or easily add details from the actions bar.

Desktop app

The same UI is reflected in the desktop app, allowing a seamless experience for the users going from mobile to desktop

AI integration

Thinking of an AI integration to this app, I thought it would be nice for the details of the task to be automatically filled using the title the user inputs with smart recognition. The app can also include AI suggestions for subtasks to enhance the user expereinc.

Calendgo

What is it about?

Calendgo is a concept project to create a calendar app that syncs with different calendars apps to have a centric expereince for all of your different events from difrent emails and platforms.

I looked at a few existing calendar apps to see what the best and common practices are for calendar UX, and researched what users like and dislike about current/common calendar apps.

The main pain points are:

  • There are no good apps that could sync all of my events from different calendars into one. It’s usually very complicated or I would have to do it manually.

  • The apps just remind me of my events/meetings, but they don’t help me much. I want an automatic time zone change and would love to have suggestions such as travel time based on where I am.

The solution

There were certain functionalities and interactions I had to keep in mind from a business perspective while working on this design:

  • App needs to show an easy-to-read calendar

  • Make it simple to add an event

  • Highlight the current time zone, and sync all events to the time zone

  • App should sync to other calendar apps to make it the main app calendar for users

I consolidated these points along with my research findings into creating wireframes for the app as well as an ideal flow that shows the different paths the user could take on the app. The next step was to present my work to the team to get feedback and brainstorm on the next steps.
